what to wear: boudoir | jacksonville boudoir photographer

OK ladies, it’s here: my boudoir style sheet.

I’ve been thinking about this genre of photography for quite some time now.  Typically, when you think of boudoir photography, the first things that come to mind are probably corsets and fishnets, which is fine!  However, it’s just not my thing.  I don’t really know any women that own those things and actually wear them on a consistent basis.  And if you do, then hey, more power to you!

When I think of boudoir, I think of intimacy on a real level: that sweet little cami you wear under your silk shirt; that lacy bra you own that makes you feel sexy, even if you wear it under an old sweatshirt; that dress you have in the back of your closet that you’re saving for a special occasion.  Things that you can be comfortable and sexy in.  (Yes, those things DO exist…)

So here it is…my favorites for boudoir.

1.  Bras and pantie sets

Guess what….they don’t have to match! 🙂  When shopping for a bra, try to avoid those with molded cups.  You know the ones I’m talking about…they are stiff and hold the shape of a perfectly round breast..which, let’s face it, very few of us actually have!  Under a shirt, these aren’t that big of a deal; I wear them.  I know, I know, I just told you to avoid them.  But hear me out!  When your bra is not covered by your clothes, does it flatter you?  Molded cups don’t move with your body, so if you are laying down for example, you will see a gap between your bra and your skin; not flattering.  Go to a local lingerie shop and get fitted.  REALLY!  The sales woman there will be able to find a bra that flatters you, 100%.

As far as panties go, boy shorts are ALWAYS a hit.  I’m a big fan of high waisted panties; I’m SO GLAD they are back in style!  Just go for what’s comfortable here.  You don’t want something cutting in to your skin.

Here are some examples of things I like:

2.  Teddies/Rompers/Body suits

I love teddies because they hide those areas of your body that you might be shy about.  Unlike baby dolls, which just made you look wider (sorry ladies!), teddies hug your curves.  Yes, that’s a good thing!  My advice?  Think sweet, not dominatrix!

Body suits (dance leotards) are always a good idea…

3.  Slips and robes

No, not your giant bath robe!  Think silk, lace, and anything soft.

I hope this gives you some inspiration!  If you would like more pretty images, check out my Pinterest board! http://pinterest.com/amorganphoto/boudoir/
