Virginia and Alex are all about the water. Alex, a co-founder of 4Ocean, is incredibly passionate about ocean conservation. His company takes plastic found in the ocean and creates apparel, shoes, jewelry and accessories. So what better place to take their engagement photos than in the water of Bahia Honda State Park? This park is its own island, filled with iconic Florida Keys scenery. Palm-lined sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, and some of the best sunsets in the Keys.
Every aspect of this couple is around adventure and the water. Even their proposal took place on the beach! They went to their favorite fishing lodge in the Bahamas, Small Hope Bay, for Virginia’s 29th birthday. Right at sunset, they were walking down the dock and as they approached the sand there was a bouquet of flowers laying there. He got down on one knee, and Virginia was in shock. Virginia told me that Alex is the kindest, most generous human she has ever met, and she can’t wait to spend forever building a family with her best friend!
Engagement Session at Bahia Honda State Park
We started out the shoot on land, as the couple walked to the beach. Since they were planning on getting in the ocean later they made sure to pick outfits that would work well. Virginia wore a cotton dress, and Alex wore a white button-down. It was the perfect amount of formal, but comfortable.
This shoot was so fun! Virginia and Alex were down for anything. We laid in the sand, did handstands in the ocean, and even tried out the infamous Dirty Dancing lift. I mean, is there any better way to end a session than with a lift in the ocean?! This couple literally dove right into the ocean, and as the sunset, it was pretty magical and perfect.
These two are so excited about their wedding, especially the party! They can’t wait to have everyone come down and celebrate together. Since Virginia is from Wisconsin but lives in the Keys now, it’s rare for everyone to get together. So their wedding is the perfect time to get everyone together on the dance floor!
This shoot is what engagement sessions should be: fun, lighthearted, and a celebration of you as a couple. No matter where in Key West you want to take your engagement pictures, I am on board! We can work together to find the perfect spot, and make it a relaxed, but romantic, time!
